Personally I believe that the writers should have just named this movie "Strange". This is my opinion though, and I am sure Hollywood will not take that into consideration. One would think that a movie with Dustin Hoffman would be that of substance. However, this was no Rain Man or even Meet the Fockers, if we want to get comical. No, this was your run of the mill "C-" movie (I did not give it a "D" because I laughed twice).

Will Ferrell stars as Harold Crick who works for the IRS, has OCD, and lives by his wrist watch. There is foreshadowing and irony involving the watch, but that pops up at the end. No, I will not give the ending away, I never do. Let's just say that if you get bored in the middle, as I did, it really would not hurt to jump to the end. However, for the purpose of a review for you wonderful bloggers, I sat through another terrible movie. Other stars are Emma Thompson. Queen Latifah, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. They used decent actors as trickery!!!! Shame Shame... Next review Night at the Museum. Oh lord...

Hilary Swank stars in this classic rendition of "White teacher conquers the emotional barrier between black, white, Hispanic, and oriental." Swank plays a teacher named Erin Gruwell that is teaching for the first time. She ends up in the middle of a high school that contains rival gangs and numerous fights on a day to day basis. Just when she thought that she should give up the kids from room 203 give in and take to her idea of writing in Composition books. Each student starts their journals and a world of communication is opened up.

This movie can be compared to Dangerous Minds, the 1995 movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer, only in this rendition, the teacher isn't an ex Marine, and there is no Coolio song to go along with the movie. All in all, the movie keeps your attention and leads to a happy ending. It is based on a book and true events. Once you see the movie you may want to pick up a copy of the book "The Freedom Writers", you know how the saying goes, the book is always better than the movie.

John Tucker Must Die

All right, I rented this movie. I caved in and rented yet another terrible high school drama movie. Not only was this movie not funny, it was actually pathetic. The basis of the movie was a loner high school girl discovers that John Tucker, the "jock" that everyone wants to date, is cheating on a group of popular girls. Once she reveals it to the group of girls, they become best friends and create a plot for revenge. Perhaps I am being too harsh, there are a few funny scenes. Again, let me stress the word few. I would rent this if you and your friends want to sit around and laugh at an ex soap opera star and a forgotten singer.

Disturbia

Disturbia is one of the best movies that I have seen in the theaters recently. "Even Stevens" star Shia Labeouf turns out to be a decent young actor. Once he is placed on house arrest for the summer, what better to do than watch the neighbors, especially when one is a beautiful girl just his age. He falls for the girl with his best friend by his side, and the trio keeps the movie entertaining. Everything is going great until there is suspicion that the next door neighbor is not a friendly man, but rather a cold blooded killer. The problem is Shia cannot go more than 100 feet away from his house, due to his house arrest. Each scene keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. It is one of those movies that is great in the theater, or wait to rent it and watch it in the dark with your friends.

Rocky Balboa

Rocky Balboa

Ah, Rocky, an American Icon, charging up the stairs in triumphant glory, beating Mr. T, the Russian, and so many others. Basking in the glory of success and dealing with defeat. Of course I am talking about Rocky 1-5. However, the newest installment Rocky Balboa, was anything but a smash hit. From the "deep" and "powerful" dialect, to the final "fight" Rocky keeps the viewers awake not by his moving speech capabilities (laughs), but by the humor in every sentence that was acted out in that move. The basis is that Rocky defeats Mason Dixon (the current champion to beat) in an up to date animated fictitious fight that is played out on a similar channel to ESPN, when Rocky plus Dixon see this fight, this, of course, leads to a challenge. I will not give away the ending, however it is not what you expect to happen, and not much of a climax.
Viewers be sure to have plenty of sleep before watching and allow your sense of humor to be in full force!

The Wicker Man

I decided that I will be doing a movie review each week. This week we will take a look at The Wicker Man.

Most people love Nicholas Cage as an actor, personally he is one of my favorites. This movie was one of his worst. It built you up, only to bring you down. Sure there were some freaky scenes, but hey it was suppose to be a thriller/suspenseful movie. The ending was tasteless, and the plot was great, up until the last 45 Minutes. I will not give away the ending. Cage plays a cop that spends the entire movie trying to find a young girl name Rowen, who has gone missing from this isolated island in Washington. There are no rules and no way out. He must find the girl before the wicker man comes. The movie takes you on a roller coaster ride...until the end. If you want to waste $4, rent it, however if you can find someone who already owns it, or wait until it plays on USA or TNT, I would take that option.

I have not updated in forever, my bad once again. I will add my opinions and review of chapters 11-16 throughout this week.

Spring Break was good, made a lot of money because I worked every single damn day!!! Except for Tuesday night. I went with my friends to see Nickelback, it was spontaneous and rather refreshing. I have not been to a concert since Green Day 2 years ago, damn. But the MCR concert is in May so that should be relatively good. I am very tired right now because once again I waited until the last minute and decided to conquer all of my homework today. This included a 5 page brief, a presentation, a feature story, and also business communications homework. I love procrastination. No I don't.
